It's A Girl!!!!

This morning my parent's, Jake, and I went to my gender ultrasound. The baby looks healthy and measures a little big for dates so the baby might be coming a little earlier then anticipated...Nov 30th instead of Dec 4th. But we'll see. The most exciting part was when he asked if we wanted to know what we were having. And he told us that we are having a little baby girl!! Jake and I couldn't be happier. We are sooo excited to add a beautiful little girl to our family. One of the first things Jake said was "I guess we need to start saving for the wedding". I think he is funny =) For the past couple of weeks I have been planning out what I wanted to buy depending on whether it was a boy/girl. After the ultrasound I went on a bit of a shopping spree. I bought the most beautiful peachy pink dress with tiered ruffles on the bottom which I am really excited about...and a few other things. Now we have a few months to prepare for the little one!

4th of July Week and 2nd Anniversary

The week of the 4th Jake and I drove to Boise to spend time with his family. We started off the trip with attending a Brian Regan show. For those of you who don't know who he is, you should listen to his stuff....he is a hilarious comedian and we loved seeing him in person. The following day we drove to Sun Valley, ID to spend some time lounging in the sun. Jakes parent's own a timeshare there and we had a lot of fun shopping, eating, relaxing, and swimming in the pool. Jake also enjoyed golfing with his dad at amazing golf courses. We had a ton of fun with his family and a highlight was discovering that Jake's sister is expecting a little girl (She is due just a few weeks before me).
When we got back to Boise the girls spent a day shopping and the boys went golfing again. My mother-in-law took me to Build-A-Bear where we made an adorable teddy bear for the baby. Jake and I went to the movies and saw Get Smart, which by the way is hilarious! We loved it.

The next day was the 4th of July. I participated for the 3rd time in the traditional holiday celebration of the Pollard's, Buckley's, and Olsen's. We began with a devotional and ended with a flag ceremony. Following listening to our 4 year old nephew say the Pledge of Allegiance (where he ended it "with jeopardy and Elizabeth for all"....It was pretty funny....we went to Cracker Barrel and had a delicious meal. Following breakfast we saw Hancock in the theater (we do not recommend it, everyone was very disappointed by the movie) After the movie we went to the Veteran's Memorial and Fancy Freeze where I was introduced to the AMAZING Boston Shake. The Boston Shake is a milk shake with a sundae on top...soooo good. We then relaxed at home until we all headed to the Buckley's for a wonderful dinner, games, and fireworks. It was a very fun and event-filled day.

The day after the 4th we drove back to Utah to attend our nephew's baby blessing. My parent's drove in from California to be there and also to go to my gender ultrasound. It was fun to have them in town and to see how much the grandchildren missed their "gwrapa and gwrama". They also took us shopping and Jake and I made out like band-its with a beautiful gliding/rocking chair, clothes for me and the baby, and a car wash. Not to mention some yummy meals. We are sad the week is over, but it is also nice to get back to the swing of normal life.

Monday July 7th was mine and Jake's 2nd Wedding anniversary. The past couple of years have just flown by. I have grown to love Jake so much more during our marriage than I could have ever dreamed of. He is a wonderful example to me and the perfect husband for me. I can only imagine how great of a father he will be to our children. I'm so glad I have an eternity to spend with him.

Gender Ultrasound

Today I had my 3rd Dr. appointment. It went very well. The heartbeat sounded stronger and louder than the last time. We also scheduled the gender ultrasound! On July 8th we'll know if this little guy is a boy/girl. We are so excited and we will keep you posted!

Baby Bump Update 16 weeks

This picture was taken when I was 16 weeks and 4 days along. Not much has changed in the past couple of weeks. I have another Dr. appointment on Thursday, so I'm excited to find out how the baby is doing and schedule an ultrasound to discover the baby's gender =)

The Host

A recent post by a friend reminded me that I forgot a very important post. A couple of weeks ago I finished reading one of the best books I have ever read. It was The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I bought the book a month ago with some hesitation because I am not a huge science fiction fan. I read the first few chapters and got bored with it so I put it down for a few weeks. A friend of mine read the book so I asked her what she thought of it. She said it was really good after the first 100 pages. So I picked up the book again and read the last 600 pages in 2 days. I simply could not put it down. It was amazing! Stephenie Meyer is also the author of the Twilight series which I LOVE. The Host was different, but in a very good way. I love her style of writing, it is absolutely enthralling and I can't wait to read more!!!

Humboldt Fire

There is a fire in Northern California (known as the Humboldt Fire) that is currently threatening my hometown of Paradise. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes and the town has been closed. There have already been many homes destroyed as high winds are pushing it farther into the town. My family is out of town and unable to save their valuables. Please keep my family and the town of Paradise as well as the hard-working fire department in your prayers.

Baby Bump Update 14 weeks

Its official, I am now in the 2nd trimester! Can I just say WOW, it is amazing what one week can do. Last week you could hardly notice that I am expecting. This week the baby has made its presence more apparent. I am now 14 weeks along and I am so thrilled that I am finally beginning to show. The baby measures measures at 3 1/2 inches (about the size of a lemon) and weighs 1 1/2 ounces.
